Last Tuesday, we were given a preview of what Teddy’s Bigger Burgers
will be offering to the public once they go full operation. Teddy’s
Bigger Burgers founders Ted Tsakiris and Rich Stula welcomed us by
sharing a little bit of history as to how Teddy’s started and by giving
us the chance to try the burgers and other products they are most proud
of.

The idea about Teddy’s Bigger Burger started when two friends, Ted
Tsakiris and Rich Stula, both self-confessed burger lovers, wondered why
there were no burger restaurants that offered quality burgers as good
as the one they were preparing during their backyard burger cookouts.
This frustration led them into opening Teddy’s with the thought of
reinventing burger joint by serving high quality burgers in mind.
They both believe that every single patty that they will prepare must be
treated like it was the very first patty that they have ever cooked.
That was way back 1998 and since then they have opened 11 locations in
Hawaii and still counting and further branching out in locations such as
Washington, Iowa, California, and Texas. They have also opened an
international franchise in Japan, and now, here in the Philippines.
Teddy’s takes pride in serving high quality burger patties in bigger
sizes compared to other burger joints. There are three sizes available
for Teddy’s Original single patties; Big (5oz.), Bigger (7oz.), and
Biggest (9oz.) while the Monster Double burger or the double patty
sandwiches boasts of 10oz., 14oz., and 18oz. Their burger patties are
made from 100% corn-fed U.S. Black Angus ground chuck shipped from the
U.S. It does not have binders or fillers nor preservatives and they use
the formula of 80% lean meat and 20% fat which makes up for a juicy
patty.
Aside from the patty, Teddy’s also boasts of their Special Aioli Sauce
which recipe is a company secret. The sauce can be easily pass off as
your usual thousand island dressing or mustard sauce but it goes beyond
that in terms of flavor which goes perfectly well with the patty. This
Special Sauce is used with their Teddy’s Original Burger. The Teri
Burger on the other hand uses Sweet Teriyaki Sauce while the Western
Burger uses barbecue sauce. The toppings in each burger include lettuce,
tomatoes, pickles, and onions but there are other toppings options
available should the diners opt to customize their burger.
Teddy’s uses potato bun for their burgers in which soft texture and
slightly sweet taste go perfectly well with the savory flavor of the
meaty patty. Other options for burger buns include wheat bread and
lettuce wrap for those who wants to keep their calorie intake at bay. Aside from their usual offerings, Teddy's developed three items on the menu which are exclusive for their Filipino franchise ~ Tiki Wings (savory sweet fried chicken wings), Loco Moco (Burger Patty on a bed of steamed rice, topped with a fried egg and drowned in gravy), and the Chicken Tenders (Chicken Breast Strips with Fries).
Our luncheon at Teddy's Bigger Burgers started with two appetizers; Flavored Fries and Tiki Wings. The Flavored Fries served to us was generously drizzled with cheese sauce and then some bacon bits. I enjoyed this appetizer immensely because I found the fries cooked to perfection with right amount of saltiness which I love in my fries. The Tiki Wings on the other hand were also a great starter for a burger feast we were about to indulge in.
Teddy's menu shows that there are numbers of burger items and combinations that diners may enjoy at Teddy's Bigger Burger. One may choose to go for Solo meal or a Combo Meal which includes sidings (fries, onion rings, etc.) and a drink. These are just some of the choices you may want to consider when dining at Teddy's.
Kailua Burger ~ Burger patty with Teri Sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, grilled mushroom, and Swiss Cheese.
Hawaiian Stye Burger ~ Burger patty with Teri sauce, lettuce,
tomatoes, pickles, onions, and grilled pineapple.
Bacado Burger ~ Burger patty with lettuce,
tomatoes, pickles, onions, avocado slices, cheddar cheese, and bacon.
During our visit I had the Monster Double Burger (10oz.) with onion rings for sidings. I opted for Kailua Special Topping which means that this came with Teri Sauce, lettuce,
tomatoes, pickles, onions, grilled mushroom, and Swiss Cheese.
The onion rings I had as sidings were really enjoyable since the slices were big enough to accommodate hefty appetite such as mine. I love that aside from its innate crispness, it was also flavorful that leans on the savory side that complements the burger. Aside from onion rings, other options for sidings include flavored fries, crisp fries, and toter tots.
Aside from the usual drinks, Teddy's Bigger Burgers also offer milk shakes with flavors such as chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, coffee, and peanut butter. I tried their chocolate milkshake and I must say that with its thickness and chocolatey flavor, it was definitely one of the best milkshakes I have ever tried.
Come this Saturday, August 23, 2014, Teddy's Bigger Burgers will finally open its door to the public. If you are a burger lover, I suggest that you try Teddy's Bigger Burger especially if you appreciate bigger portion servings. The price may be a tad hefty compared to other burger joints that offer gourmet burger, but the quality and size will speak for itself.
