Marco Polo Ortigas Manila is one of the hotels located at Ortigas Central Business District. It is surrounded with different shopping malls, restaurants, and other food establishments that hotel guests may visit and explore if so desired. If on the other hand the guests would rather stay within the hotel property but still want to enjoy an excellent gastronomical experience, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila wouldn't disappoint.
I have mentioned on the first part of my Marco Polo Hotel Staycation series that Marco Polo Ortigas Manila houses specialty dining outlets that caters even to the most discerning palates.
During my staycation, I had the pleasure of visiting and trying out these dining options inside Marco Polo Ortigas. While I have dines at some of these restaurants in the past, everything still leaves good impression and memorable experience for me.
Connect Lounge
Location: 24th floor
Operating Hours: 7 A.M. to 12 M.N.
Right after my companion and I settled and rested a bit in our room after the check in, we head on over to Marco Polo Ortigas' Connect Lounge located at the 24th floor. It is located just right in front of the check in counter which makes it a very convenient place to wait and have a light meal while waiting for check in hour which is at 2pm, should you arrived at the hotel a little early.
We went at Connect Lounge just right in time for a satisfying and relaxing afternoon tea. Connect Lounge is currently having a promotion called "A Cozy Afternoon Tea" which offers customized pastry selections such as scones, mini sandwiches, and mini cakes served in a three-tier stand. It is paired with either tea or coffee, but diners may opt to upgrade their drink selection to a glass of Moet & Chandon, Smoothie, or Iced Tea.
"A Cozy Afternoon Tea" is available at Connect Lounge for PHP 788 only for 2 persons from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, daily. I personally enjoy everything on our afternoon tea set but my favorite were the mini sandwiches. The sorbet was such a fun affair too.
I find the price very reasonable considering the good quality of food included on the set. So I must say that I can highly recommend this afternoon set for those who has affinity for such a deliciously relaxing afternoon engagement.
Lung Hin
Location: 44th floor
Operating Hours
Lunch - 11:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Dinner - 6 P.M. 10:30 P.M.
Lung Hin is a contemporary specialty restaurant that features authentic Cantonese cuisine and fresh seafood. Its luxuriously modern interior design set up matches the beauty of the view that diners may enjoy since it is located at the 44th floor of the hotel tower.
My family is crazy about Chinese restaurant so I am excited to bring them here on my next visit because based on my dining experience during my staycation, Lung Hin impressed me to the core. My companion agreed that it was one of the best Chinese restaurants we have both tried here in Manila.
We had some delectable dim sum selections and some Chinese dishes specialties. I also got to try here the famous Marco Polo Iced Tea which proved that it is indeed well worth raving about. I am planning on having a separate blog post for Lung Hin in the coming days so that I could get into detail about the food we have enjoyed during our visit.
VU's
Location: 45th floor
Operating Hours
Monday to Saturday - 5 P.M. to 2 A.M.
Sunday - 5 P.M. to Midnight
Located at the topmost floor of Marco Polo Ortigas Manila, VU's is said to be the first-of-its kind sky bar and lounge. It features cutting-edge design, a high-end sound system, and relaxing vibe perfect for an enjoyable night out with friends and loved ones. It offers savoury Mediterranean tapas served indoors or al fresco style.
We were supposed to try out the Aperitivo at VU's Sky Bar and Lounge promotion which is essentially an Italian ritual of pre-dinner drinks and appetizers also known as Anti Pasti Misto Buffet. BUt apparently, it is only available from Monday to Wednesday, a la carte (5PM to 8PM) and Thursday to Saturday, buffet (5PM to 8PM). We were there on a Sunday so we opted for ala carte dishes instead.
There was a big party during our visit which was held at the indoor area of the lounge so we have no choice but to stay at the al fresco area which doubles as the smoking area of the place. I cannot really stay for too long in a smoking area so, after a glass of wine, we decided to call it a night. Nonetheless, I am planning to revisit VU's next time and enjoy some of their offerings while staying at their indoor lounge.
Cucina
Location: 24th floor
Operating Hours:
Lunch Buffet - 12 N.N. to 2:30 P.M.
Dinner Buffet - 6 P.M. to 10:30 P.M.
Cucina is an all-day restaurant at Marco Polo that serves variety of delectable cuisines buffet style. I have blogged about Cucina Buffet before and I remember enjoying the experience immensely. I went back a couple of times together with my colleagues and even them were impressed.
During the staycation, we tried their breakfast buffet which I must say is as satisfying as their lunch buffet selections. There are a lot of dishes I get to enjoy during the breakfast but what left a good impression to me was their selections of German sausages.
What made me love the breakfast buffet at Cucina even more was the fact that they have a designated area for healthy breakfast food selections. There were salads and fresh fruits as well as muesli and overnight oats among many others.
Cafe Pronto
Location: Ground floor
Operating Hours:
Monday to Sunday - 7 A.M. to 9 P.M.
Cafe Pronto is a little heaven for coffee lovers. While I thought that it is just another hotel's cafe, my notion of it changed when I got to try their offerings. I was so impressed that I deem it is best to have a separate blog post for Cafe Pronto in the coming days.
During this particular visit, I got to try the famous Marco Polo Silk Road Iced Cofffe. Dare I say that this drink is my Drink of the Year for 2017. It was so good that even if I am trying to cut down on my caffeine intake, I wouldn't mind having this again and again.
I also got to try some sandwiches and mini cakes and everything was nothing short of amazing. I specifically like the Grilled Adobo Pandesal which I deem a good take on our local favorite. There are plenty more things to love about Cafe Pronto so, I cannot wait to go back.
As I have mentioned, one need not to go out of Marco Polo Hotel property just for a delightful dining experience. They got everything under their umbrella. The best thing about it, all of their dining specialty outlets are highly impressive.
