Luscious chunks of fresh strawberries luxuriously nestled on its syrup, velvety smooth cream, and soft sponge cake. Strawberry Shortcake by Conti’s reminds me of the 1980’s cartoon character. Cute, adorable, lovely on its own simplicity.

Although I am not a big fan of sponge cake, if it is made by Conti’s, it definitely is an exemption. I love how the generous butter cream mixed with strawberry syrup penetrates the cake. It has become the sponge cake’s salvation from its usual dry and airy texture. In between layers, chunks of strawberries are juicy and luscious to the bite, leaving one the pleasure to dig in and have some more.

The sweetness and the creaminess of the cake are perfect blend. Not too sweet nor overwhelmingly creamy; Just the right amount of unified flavors that make Conti’s version of this classic dessert a wonderful treat.
