One of the most challenging things when it comes to writing about food is doing it on an empty stomach. Much like taking medicine, it should not be done when you have not eaten anything yet, otherwise you’ll be subjected to doom, well at least in my book. It is always wise to get loaded before plunging into the game of putting memories of food into words and drooling over its photos.
However, there are inevitable situation when you need to finish an article because you are way too late meeting a deadline or way too crowded with backlogs. Yes, amidst hunger, you need to finish at least one food article or food blog post for good or for ill. This happens to me often especially during night time when 24/7 food deliveries are limited, and my mother who’s a wonderful cook is already in dreamland.
Good thing that a new concept of delivery food service whose target markets are the nocturnal like me and those who are working on a graveyard shift is here. Kitchen Knight, an evening food delivery service which offers variety of home cooked meals delivered during night time is now up and ready to rescue those hungry tummies specifically in Makati, Taguig, and some nearby cities.
Some friends who work with some Business Process Outsourcing companies often complains that they are tired dealing with rather lame food from their pantries and the limited choices of fast food chains open 24/7. Most of them would want to eat affordable home cooked healthy meals that are still warm, delicious, and filling. I think Kitchen Knight is the answer to their dilemma, a good alternative to the usual.
Early this week I was given a chance to sample some of their offerings. Food are neatly packed in a styrofoam and it comes with disposable fork and spoon. The delivery time was fast but we cannot really rely on that experience alone because it was a holiday when it was delivered to me, but given that I have it delivered at my place in San Juan, a little delivery time of not more that 30 minutes was quite impressive.
Their Seafood and Vegetable Omelet was quite a big serving for one order. I love that there are generous amount of seafood and vegetable inside the egg. It’s sweet and savory flavor are pleasing to the palate that you would want to have extra rice with it.
The Spicy Seafood Basil was a tad too spicy for my taste. There’s a generous amount of seafood and little shreds of basil leaves which was perfectly fine with me. Then again, I could have enjoyed it more if it wasn’t that too spicy.
I was impressed with their Korean Chapchae Noodles mainly because of its generous and flavorful ingredients. It was nothing fancy like the usual Chapchae I get from Korean restaurants I have visited but nevertheless it was good, in fact it could be one of the best and affordable options whenever I crave for Chapchae.
Some of the dishes that they offer are Thai, Japanese, Korean, and Filipino which price ranges from 65 to 95 Php only. Breakfast meals are also available. Aside from noodles, all dishes include rice and vegetables with it. Although limited choices, they also offer drinks on their menu such as milk tea and the popping bobba drink.
Kitchen Knight is definitely a welcome change from the usual late night fast food deliveries. I think it’s the affordability and the good quality of their food which will keep them in the business. I just hope that they could expand and offer their service to other cities, but the last time I heard, they are now open for delivery not just in Makati and Taguig but in Mandaluyong, San Andres, Sta. Ana, and Taft as well.
They deliver from Mondays through Fridays from 6:00PM to 3:00AM. They offer FREE delivery service for a minimum of three dishes, but if you want to order one to two dishes only, there will be an additional 50 Php fee. They also accepts bulk lunch pack orders and catering. Check out their website for complete menu and more information.
