It was a while back when I promised my little sister to treat her with pizza since I wasn’t able to do so during her birthday. I was so caught up with tasks at hand that I barely had time to take her out to her favorite pizza place, Pasto Restaurant located at Greenhills. My sister is big on pizza and pasta and Pasto is one of her top three to go to places when craving for her comfort food.
One weekend while I was still caught up with work, she
talked me into bringing home some pizza instead. Since I know that my
schedule wouldn’t give me the liberty to fulfill the promised pizza date
with her, I agreed. I was supposed to drop by the restaurant but as
luck would have it, an emergency meeting with the client prevented me
from doing so.
I was en route to the meeting place and the only internet access I had was through my beat up phone. But there’s no wi-fi available so I decided to use their text message service instead. I texted City Delivery (09176387878) my name, contact number, delivery address, and the name of the restaurant which I would like to order from. After a couple of minutes, call center agent Janet called me back to ask for my order. While I don’t have the copy of their menu, Janet patiently dictated me everything so that I could decide on what should I order, talk about great service, eh? I used to order through their online portal before and I never thought that using their text message service could be as easy.
It was around 10 in the morning and my sister and I agreed that I’ll be home by two in the afternoon for our little pizza party. Good thing that they also offer advance order feature because otherwise, I would be having a hard time calculating time as to when the food will be delivered. I placed my order past 10am and I told Janet that I’ll be expecting it at exactly two in the afternoon. I arrived at home ten minutes before two and after good five minutes our food was already delivered. Despite my exhaustion, it feels great that with food delivery services, life can be a little easy.
My sister has a deep liking for anything seafood so I decided to order for Pasto’s Pizza Bianca (Php295). It is basically pizza topped with seafood and a pesto sauce as its base. I love how the aroma of the pesto sauce wafts through the air even before the box was opened. I tried re-heating it at the oven and the smell was pleasantly intoxicating that I didn’t realize I have finished couple of slices already.

Pasto’s special pizza aptly called Pasto Pizza (Php315) has always been one of our favorites so I ordered for it as well. If one is up for a filling pizza with almost everything on top, this is the best option. It has ham, salami, mushroom, olives, bell peppers, onions, technically, the whole she bangs. In contract to its rather think dough, these awesome toppings are a celebration of all things delicious in a pizza.
Margherita Pizza (Php215) may be the simple in appearance but in its simplicity there’s a beautiful flavor of tomato hinting of basil leaves that blends perfectly with the rich flavor of mozzarella cheese. Very simple and yet pleasant to the palate. My sister whenever on a diet would also opt for Margherita.
As if three boxes of 12 inch thin pizza weren’t enough for us, I also ordered for Spaghetti Carbonara (Php245) and Lasagna (Php295). I am a tad picky when it comes to carbonara because I prefer the Ruth Reichl kind of authenticity, but Pasto’s version although loaded with cream has always been my favorite. Generous bacon on top only took it a notch higher in my book so to speak.
Pasto’s lasagna isn’t the usual meaty or veggie lasagna because it’s a combination of two that made it all the more filling. First time I have tried their lasagna, I was taken aback with a slice of eggplant peeking through its side, but when I tasted it, it made me feel as if I am eating moussaka and meat lasagna at the same time. Pasto is also generous with the béchamel sauce they poured on top of this dish, so it’s a big plus in my opinion.
Disappointing stories about food delivery has been known to many especially about lack of condiments and missing orders. I appreciate that although I failed to mention it, they didn’t forget to put in some chili flakes and parmesan cheese alongside packets of hot sauce on my order. I also appreciate how City Delivery handled the food carefully because there’s no visible spillage that transpired.
With situation like this, I am definitely one of those who are thankful that food delivery services could make life easier. With several restaurants under its umbrella, choices are varied but the confidence that the same quality food delivery service is there.
