While enjoying a box of Villa Del Conte chocolates, I remember that quote from Forrest Gump; "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you'll gonna get." Don't get me wrong, this blog post is not about deciphering the meaning of life in all its glory, I just want to talk about Villa Del Conte Cioccolato Sublime.
Villa Del Conte's namesake is a town in Padova Italy wherein this 70+ year old family business of artisan chocolate-making hails from. For generations now, they are making hand crafted fine chocolates in their factory in Italy.
Recently my sister was given a box of Villa Del Conte chocolates to try.
Being the kind sister that she is, she shared it with me so that I can
write about it here on my blog. It was my first time to try these
chocolates and I must say that I was impressed.
First time I read about Villa Del Conte Cioccolate Sublime was when Anton wrote about it on Our Awesome Planet. I haven't gotten around to visiting their flagship store in Resorts World since I do not frequent the area. But I heard they do have plenty of kiosk in some malls within Manila.
First thing that attracts me about the Villa Del Conte sent to us was the box. It's appearance is very artsy and since it was constructed in a way that it can be re-used, we are now using the box as a container for tiny knick knacks around my room.
The box contained chocolate Praline Balls an Praline Sticks of different flavors. Foiled in different colors depending on their flavors, I got really excited with every opening since the box does not contain a list of flavors, hence, I have to guess. The excitement of not knowing what you'll get was just blissful!
Praline Balls flavors include milk chocolate with cacao cream filling, dark chocolate with coffee cream filling, dark chocolate with hazelnut cream filling and cereals, and milk chocolate with hazelnut cream filling and cereals, milk chocolate with caramel cream filling, and dark chocolate with macadamia cream filling. Among the flavors, it was the dark chocolate with coffee cream filling that I ended up really liking while the milk chocolate with caramel filling earned my sister's thumbs up.
The Praline Sticks flavors on the other hand includes milk chocolate with strawberry cream filling, milk chocolate with banana cream filling, dark chocolate with mint cream filling, and dark chocolate with orange cream filling. I am not big on mint+chocolate combination so I ended up liking the rest of the flavors save for the mint. My sister however like the minty variant.
It was such a shame that it was only recently that I got to try these chocolates from Villa Del Conte because little did I know, I was missing half of my life. I love chocolate and so do most of the people in our household. Next time, I'll buy big boxes of it since flavor-wise, I am confident it will be a money well spent.
