Couple of months ago, Crystal Jade Dining IN at BGC, The Fort launched its Weekend Dim Sum Buffet which proved to be an exciting feat for those who love to indulge in an eat-all-you-can dim sum feast. This time, it's Crystal Jade Shanghai Delight at Greenhills in San Juan that is currently carrying out a Dim Sum Buffet promo. For those who adore Crystal Jade Shanghai Delight's famous Xiao Long Bao may now take advantage of this promo to have an unlimited serving of this favorite along side other dim sum that Crystal Jade Greenhills offers.
Compared to Crystal Jade Dining IN's Dim Sum Buffet promo which is available every weekend, Crystal Jade Greenhill's Dim Sum Buffet is available every weekdays, from 6pm to 9:30pm. It started last August 4, 2014 and will last only until August 31, 2014. This promo is Crystal Jade's way of partaking of the Singapore Day's celebration.
Although it will last only for a month, diners can expect wonderful
treats of high quality dim sum that Crystal Jade is known for. The dim
sum buffet being set during dinner time can be a perfect way to indulge
in sumptuous "little morsels of love" after a days work or after a long
day of shopping around Greenhills area.
We sampled this Dim Sum Buffet at Crystal Jade Greenhills one time to check the offerings. It has been established since day one that the offerings at Crystal Jade Dining In at BGC are different from Crystal Jade Shanghai Delights. Hence, it is understandable that some dim sum selections at The Fort branch is not available at Greenhills branch.
There are only a handful of dim sum to choose from at Crystal Jade Greenhills, however, given the buffet rate of only Php 488+ per person and the fact that I could feast on the well-loved Crystal Jade's Xiao Long Bao, I could not care less about the difference. This rate is also inclusive of unlimited iced tea or hot tea, depending on the diners' preference.
Cold Cucumber with Minced Garlic
~ This appetizer was surprisingly enjoyable. The cucumber was refreshing to the palate while the contrasting innate flavor of the garlic made this dish an effective appetizer as it surely whet my appetite.
Congee with Salted Pork and Preserved Egg
~ There is a reason why this congee is topped with century egg and shredded salted pork; if you eat the porridge alone, it can be bland that you would wish there's some calamansi and cracked pepper nearby, being a Pinoy that we are. Yet, if you mixed the entire deal with the pork and the egg, then there will be magic. A lovely magic.
Noodle with Spring Onion Oil
~ This noodle in the photo is devoid of the soup that should go with it. I have a reason. I tried having it with the soup and I was happy. When I tried having it without the soup, I was ecstatic! The flavor of the fresh noodle was worthy in itself! It was savory and nutty and just extremely enjoyable that even if it turned cold, I still enjoyed every last bit of it.
Pork Dumpling with Hot Chili Sauce
~ One bite of this delightful morsel of love and I knew from the get go that I have finally outgrow my aversion to spicy food. I've had two servings of this because while the pork dumpling was really good, the hot chili sauce studded with pepper flakes and minced fried garlic made it all the more rave-worthy. I would go back to Crystal Jade and avail of their dim sum buffet for this alone - and maybe a couple of servings of Xiao Long Bao, of course!
Deep Fried Spring Roll
~ I am not a fan of fried spring roll, save for the ones I love at President Tea House in Binondo which boasts of meaty fillings, but this one is truly a Crystal Jade's product hence, I could not say no.
Xiao Long Bao
~ Also called Steamed Soupy Pork Dumpling. It's Crystal Jade's Xiao Long Bao, people. Need I say more?
Steamed Vegetable Dumpling
~ A perfect option for those who wants to keep their calorie intake at bay or for those who wants healthy variations for those who had downed enough pork dumplings to last them a decade. Compared to other vegetable dumplings I have tried, this one has a more intense flavor.
Beijing Pork Dumpling
~ This dumpling has more intense pork flavor to it compared to the usual pork dumpling which are sometimes mixed with shrimp and minced vegetables. I tried having it with the usual soy dipping, but I liked it more when I paired it with Hoisin sauce.
Pan-Fried Shanghai Pork Bun
~ It can be easily pass off as your usual fried siopao but since it is proudly Crystal Jade's, you can not expect nothing less. The crisp bottom part brought about by the processed it was cooked was a delightful addition to an otherwise all through out soft texture. The taste of the pork filling inside is comparable to the filling of the Xiao Long Bao, only it is not soupy, of course.
Minced Pork Dumplings with String Beans
~ This dumpling is as good as the other pork dumplings at Crystal Jade but its meaty flavor is delightfully interrupted with the innate sweetness of the beans. There's a perfect balance in flavor and texture that it can do well without the dipping sauce.
Steamed Pork and Shrimp Dumpling with Crab Roe
~ A dim sum feast would not be complete without the proverbial siew mai. Crystal Jade's version of it is packed with meaty flavor of the pork and the sweetness of the plump shrimps. I love having this dipped in soy sauce with lots of chili on it.
Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce
~ The portion served to us was fatty which well, made me happy. This dish really made me crave for a cup of rice because while it can be a beautiful snack to indulge in, it can also be a very filling viand especially that you can have it in unlimited servings.
Steamed Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce
~ I was not able to try this one but judging the way my good buddy Gerry devoured several pieces, I must say it must be really good.
Deep Fried Carrot Cake with Deep Fried Shrimp and Preserved Meat
~ This may look like your usual radish cake widely available in most Chinese restaurants, but this one made use of shredded carrots aside from radish. The shrimp and the meat lend a savory flavor to the dish making it all the more satisfying.
Crystal Jade Shanghai Delight's Dim Sum Buffet in Greenhills will last only for a month so I suggest that you visit them right away and spend a great dinner there with your loved ones. The selections may not be as extensive as the one at Crystal jade The Fort, but given the quality and the lesser price, you will still get your money's worth.
