If you have been reading my blog, you know by now that one of the food fairs in Manila that I have always been supporting is Best Food Forward. Who could ever blame me? It's a benefit food fair, nothing beats the nice feeling of feasting on great food for a cause. That's always been Best Food Forward's goal from the get go, so, I am all for it. Now the good news is they are back this year, celebrating their 4th year in making food enthusiasts in Manila happy and helping our fellow countrymen in need while in the process.
This coming October 11 to 12, 2014, from 10am to 8pm, The Most Awaited Benefit Food Fair, Best Food Forward will be staging their two-day food fair event at The Rockwell Tent in Makati, City. Since there have been a lot of flood victims in the past year up to now, Best Food Forward beneficiaries will be the flood victims and survivors.
I remember the very first time I attended Best Food Forward way back in 2011 with some of my friends. It was one of those days when I have met the most talented home bakers and food business owners which up to now I still look up to. I also remember enjoying every minute of it since I was exposed to a lot of new food finds which ended up as my favorites up to this day. Now that Best Food Forward is on its fourth year, I know that there are a lot of great things to expect.
And indeed, there's a lot of great things to expect. Recently, I got an invite from Gwen Carino, one of the founder of Best Food Forward, to sample some of the food purveyors who will be joining the Best Food Forward 2014. Schedule was pretty tight that day since I was also attending the Ultimate Taste Test (my Top pick blog post for UTT will be posted soon) and the Oktoberfest Celebration for Brotzeit German Restaurant (blog post soon as well). But I couldn't bring myself to beg off from Best Food Forward's invite because hey, it's Best Food Forward!
I am glad I went because we were introduced to some of the most interesting food finds which we can all expect at the Best Food Forward on October 11 and 12.
One of the food finds I enjoyed at the BFF preview was the Love Agnessi Cookies which gave us their chocolate chip, dark chocolate, and white chocolate macadamia cookies. I tell you, one big bite of their white chocolate macadamia cookies and they already made a fan out of me. Kewpie was also there at the preview to give out sample of their products and as co-presentor of Best Food Forward. I am a fan of their Japanese mayo, my fridge is never without the tube of wonder known as Kewpie. I am happy to have tried some of their products during the preview. As expected, I was impressed.
We were also introduced to the Old Fashion Jar Cakes by Voila. I tell you, I fell in love with it in an instant. I even brought my two jars of it during my staycation at Oakwood just this weekend and I had a great time feasting on it while having a grand time in a my beautiful room. Yes, a blog about that experience will be posted soon.
Another cookie brand that got me excited was the Kooky Pam. We tried their Dark Belgian Chocolate Chip, Red Velvet, and White Chocolate Macadamia and I ended up loving everything! I also love its pretty packaging, so be sure not to miss it when you attend the Best Food Forward this weekend!
Another food purveyor that we should all check out is the Food Garage. They dishes out great tasting variety of food like Shrimp with Baba Ganoush. If you are up for feasting over interesting food you can munch on while at the event, check this food stall out.
Lick The Spoon Deep Dips bottle gourmet was also present during the preview. I got to try the Spicy Tinapa variant over a small cup of rice thought it was awesome. They have other bottled gourmet variants, so be sure to check them out. I think this is one of the stalls that I will visit first this weekend as there are endless possibilities in recipes that you can come up using their products.
Also a co-presentor of Best Food Forward 2014, Carnation were kind enough to give us sample of goodies made using Carnation products. They will be having a stall at BFF this weekend as well for those who like to purchase. I will probably grab some cans because I want to try the recipe for the chocolate cake we feasted on during the preview.
The Cubano Sandwiches by Big Dog's Kitchen should also not to be missed. They make panini style sandwiches of different variants that will fit their customer's preferences. I am big on sandwiches and this one is a winner for me.
Dedette dela Fuente of the Famous Lechon Degustacion and Irene Co of my favorite Indulgence by Irene will also join the Best Food Forward 2014. I'll probably frequent their stall so please do drop by.
The Best Food Forward preview was held at The Blackboar Restaurant at The Podium. They were generous enough to let us try their Smorgasbord special which I though was a great deal. I particularly love their Beef Belly! And since, I was quite impressed with their food, I figured it will be fun to pay them a visit again one of these days so that I could write a separate blog post about it.
So, these are just some of the food we have tried during the Best Food Forward preview. There are a lot more to check out on the event itself so please save the date and we will see you there!
