I cannot remember when was the last time I have dined at Charlie's Grind and Grill prior to my visit recently. Perhaps it has something to do with the numbers of different burger joints sprouting all over Manila that I must be visited for the blog. Or perhaps maybe because since I moved here in the East, Charlie's Grind and Grill branches are tad too far to me now.
Despite that, I know at the back of my mind that when asked for best place to get a good burger, Charlie's Grind and Grill is still one of the best recommendation I could give alongside some of my favorite burger joints.
Last time I wrote about Charlie's Grind and Grill here on the blog was year 2011 and it was all about my admiration for their Philly Cheese Steak. So when a chance presented itself one day, I dropped by at their Makati branch to once again enjoy the goodness of the grubs they offer at Charlie's.
Currently, Charlie's has three branches located in Kapitolyo, San Juan, and Makati. Their branch at Ronac Art Center San Juan was the one I used to frequent to because that's the one near to where I used to live. It was my first time at their Makati branch last week.
Tucked in a street where offices buildings abound, Charlie's Grind and Grill in Makati for some is quite hard to find. But with all the mobile apps available these days, it shouldn't be that hard. All you have to know is that it's located at Greenbelt Radissons Bldg. in Aguirre St., in front of 711 convenience store. Do not be confused, it is not in Greenbelt Malls area.
On the table:
Black Truffle Fries (Php210) ~ Fresh Igorota Idoho potatoes tossed in truffle oil and truffle salt topped with grilled chicken liver.
I love truffle so this one is a sure winner for me since the first day I have tried it at Charlie's. It is still as impressive as how I remember it to be. Thick cut fries loaded with chicken liver and an aroma flavor I consider one of the best in the whole world.
Reversed Buffalo Wings (Php285/half dozen)
This one carries the word "Reversed" because instead of the buffalo sauce coating the chicken, it was the blue cheese dipping that does the job well. The sauce, well, it is served on the side as dipping.
I have always loved blue cheese, unpopular opinion it may be, but I just love it. Chicken wings are of decent size with flavor and crispness I most certainly love.
Chick 'N Charlie (Php210)
Charlie's may be known for their amazing line of Angus and Wagyu Beef Burgers, but non-beef eaters should worry not because they do offer Chicken burgers to satisfy you.
Take for instance this Chick 'N Charlie made of fried juicy and tender chicken meat sandwiched in between delicious buns. It is not often that I eat chicken burger at Charlie's because I am a die hard beef lover. But having tried this one for the first time, I must say it's not bad. Not bad at all.
Sloppy Wagyu Burger
Now this one is currently off the menu. I was told that it will soon be launched alongside new menu items at Charlie's. I was lucky that I was able to try this one by recommendation because it was really good. It's like breakfast burger but way way better and well, different.
This is definitely one o the new burgers at Charlie's to watch out for.
Wagyu Cheese Steak (Php320)
Of course, my visit at Charlie's wouldn't be complete without my beloved Cheese Steak. Who could blame me when this amazing creation is packed with slices of Wagyu beef and sauteed onions, grilled peppers, topped with cheese sauce. The smokey ranchero sauce and jalapeno served on the side was also a thoughtful addition to the deal.
As expected, it is still beaming with downright amazingness which made me fall in love with it since day one.
Chocolate Milkshake
Charlie's also serves great milkshakes hence, you must consider it when visiting. The chocolate milkshake I tried was nothing short of amazing. Thick in consistency and downright chocolatey in flavor.
But then again since we ar talking about good burgers here, beer can always be a good option. Charlie's carries assortment of imported beer one may have a hard time deciding which one to choose. Had I not need to attend to another engagement after my lunch at Charlie's, I would probably go for Heinecken.
It is good to know that despite all these years, the quality of food at Charlie's is still as impressive as before. Hardcore beef lovers have an option to go for Wagyu beef or Angus beef. Or they can opt for sandwiches instead alongside other popular sidings known for Charlie's.
As mentioned, I was told that they are going to introduced new line of gourmet burgers soon and that is what I am excited about. Meanwhile, I must say that it feels good to revisit Charlie's Grind and Grill because the food that made us fall in love with this burger joint is still as good as ever.
