Recently, I visited Earth Kitchen at BGC to check out the healthy food offerings they have. Some of Manila Food Bloggers have been raving about Earth Kitchen's farm-to-table concept which piqued my curiosity. I've been on the look out for restaurants that serves healthy food not only for personal consumption but because majority of people I know have been asking recommendation for such.
Earth Kitchen opened their first branch located at White Plains Katipunan in 2013. This year, they opened their second branch at Bonifacio High Street in BGC to cater to people who lives in the Southern part of the Metro.
I haven't been in their White Plains branch but I will surely visit soon since I loved everything I have tried at their BGC branch. I will also do a blog post about it, but meanwhile, let us focus to Earth Kitchen BGC.
As the name implies, Earth Kitchen is a restaurant that serves healthy and sustainable food. Majority of the ingredients are sourced locally since they aim to support local farmers and indigenous community. Earth Kitchen is a byproduct of collaboration among Got Heart Foundation, Hizon's Catering, Chef David Hizon, and Chef JR Trani.
They believe that by increasing the demand for organic and natural food, they will be able to do their part in helping out the livelihood of the marginalized sectors like farmers here in our country.
I am a believer of using organic products since at home, I also plant some fruits and vegetables for my family's consumption. Hence, I dig what Earth Kitchen has been standing up for.
Dining at Earth Kitchen is like dining in a beautiful garden where you are close to nature. Their interior design fits perfectly with their beliefs, not to mention the name of the restaurant.
From green and brown hue of the place to the wooden designs, everything got the vibe of nature. The place in itself gives the feeling that you are indeed in a restaurant where healthy and delicious food can be expected.
Healthy food products of Got Heart Foundation Store are also on display and are available for purchase. There are several hard-to-find- healthy items so I suggest that you check them out as well.
Majority of the food at Earth Kitchen are made from scratch hence, the freshness and the homecooked feel to it. There menu is impressive but I was told that they will be adding more items soon.
On The Table:
Fresh Mushroom Soup (Php200) ~ organic/naturally-produced shitake, button, milky, and abalone mushroom.
Let me say it from the get go that this is by far the best mushroom soup I ever had. I love mushroom in general but this one made me love it even more. The flavor is very clean and filling at the same time.
Tempura Salad (Php330) ~ ebi and fish tempura, organic/naturally-produced vegetables, and roasted sesame dressing.
This salad was very filling, owing to the fact that it has big tempura incorporated to the dish. It can be a meal in itself to be honest.
Fish and Mango (Php230) ~ loro fillet, ripe mango, cilantro, and chili plum sauce.
I love the freshness that the ripe mango brings to this dish. The chili plum sauce on the other hand gives it a depth of flavor. The fish fillets were big and just like the Tempura Salad, this one in its hefty serving can be a meal in itself if you are trying to dodge added calories.
Beef Bulgogi Soft Tacos (Php210/2pcs, Php310/3pcs.) ~ boneless beef ribs, kimchi rice, salad greens, and seaweeds.
I love Korean food to the core hence, Earth Kitchen's Beef Bulgogi Soft Tacos in its delicious rendition was a sure winner for me. The full bodied flavor of this dish is what gives this one a character.
Braised Bacon (Php580) ~ slab bacon, red cabbage, and marble potatoes.
Earth Kitchen may be known for dishing out healthy food but it is not full pledge vegan restaurant. So, meat lovers fret not. They do have this bacon on the menu which taste reminds me of Christmas ham, meaning, it's all good.
Roast Chicken (Php410) ~ organic roasted chicken with French beans and baby potatoes.
One of the many things I love about organic chicken is its clean flavor. Earth Kitchen did a great job in developing this recipe for organic chicken because the distinct taste of it was not overshadowed by other flavor incorporated to the dish.
Milanese Risotto (Php640) ~ saffron, parmesan, butter, organic braised beef short ribs, gremalata.
Give me a beautifully executed fork-tender braised beef and we will be friends for life. With this dish, I loved Earth Kitchen even more. The Risotto was perfectly cooked - creamy and downright palatable. The flavor of saffron which I love was very apparent but not overwhelmingly so. Suffice it to say, this is one of my favorite dishes at Earth Kitchen.
Mushroom Ravioli (Php400) ~ kesong puti, shitake, button, and milky mushroom, pili nuts, light cream sauce.
This pasta dish at Earth Kitchen, I can never forget. Again, I love mushroom but what blew me away about this dish is the kesong puti which made the mix all the more creamy and palatable and just lovely. DO not miss this when you dine at Earth Kitchen, take my word for it.
Dalandan Juice (Php260) and Got Heart Mix (Php200)
These drinks were perfect accompaniment to the dishes we feasted on because it cleans the palate and healthy as well. Next time, I got my eyes on their Guyabano juice.
I am really glad to be introduced to Earth Kitchen because it easily becomes one of favorite restaurants this year. I love their beliefs in serving healthy food while helping out farmers. The prices are all reasonable compared to other farm-to-table and organic produce restaurants.
