While munching on Orell’s Glazed Banana Thins, it made me realized that there are probably only three things that could make me come running home despite being already enroute to somewhere. First is when my parents summon me, second is when memory fails and wallet/phone/keys/common sense are left somewhere in my room, and third is when someone lures me to Chuck a u-ey because there’s a crack snack waiting for me at home.
Orell’s Glazed Banana Thins is such a crack snack I ditched a trip for it. Pathetic, you say? I call it priorities.

To say that the trip I ditched was something I have a lukewarm enthusiasm for to begin with, would just sound like a sorry excuse. So despite it being the truth, I don’t mind settling for another statement that also rings true – I have an unequivocal love for banana chips. When dodging my excessive meat consumption, banana chips for me is like beef jerky – I eat it like it’s nobody’s business.
Now this banana thins, I ate it like it's nobody's business. Finished two jars in one day before the idea of taking photos of it hit me. I tell you, it's addicting it's impossible to stop after a couple of bites.
Another realization came in the form of categorization. So, get this; there is Banana Chips, then there is Orell's Glazed Banana Thins.
A product of Pempeyo International Foods Inc., Orell's Glazed Banana Thins is proudly made in the Philippines with factory located in Cabuyao, Laguna. The use of carefully picked and harvested Saba Bananas from local suppliers is said to be one of the factors that makes Orell's Glazed Banana Thins of high quality.
These little facts are made obvious by the way Orell's Glazed Banana Thins are packaged and presented. I specifically love the packaging from its dapper-looking design up to the foil that serves as its seal. Nope, there's no sad-looking adhesive tape to seal the lid. Orell's Glazed Banana Thins goes beyond that to assure its freshness.
When it comes to taste, let me say that it is by far the best banana chips I ever had - and I have had many, to tell you the truth.
Its paper-like thinness is so palpable it is worthy to be called Banana
Thins instead of the usual Banana Chips. And given that diameter which
almost makes the surface semi transparent, the crispness is just spot
on.
Eating these banana thins is like biting into Tuiles made out of sugar. It gives a certain sense of fragility and it crackles at the slightest bite - even at a nudge of a tongue.
It's sweetness gives justice to the word glazed - it doesn't overwhelms the palate nor assault one's senses. Its flavor is just perfect for its texture and its size.
I could go on and on describing how impressive Orell's Glazed Banana Thins is but nobody wants long prose especially when all you ever want is to grab that jar of this banana thins and go your merry way munching on it. So if pressed to decide what's the best word to describe these amazing pieces of heaven in a jar - I will choose the word addictive.
I told you, it's a crack snack.
Orell's Glazed Banana Thins is priced at Php170 per 200g. jar. For more information, you may check them out at Facebook (/OrellsByPempeyo), Instagram (@OrellsByPempeyo), and Twitter (@OrellsByPempeyo).
