I was recently introduced to SEVEN Comfort Cuisine, a new food business in Manila that offers food party trays perfect for potlucks, parties, and even for those days when one cannot muster the energy nor the means to cook. They take pride in having healthy and delicious food choices that can be delivered right at the comfort of your home or through an arranged pick up.
I had a simple get together with some friends where we spent an afternoon binge-watching American TV series recently and I figured it is the best time to try out offerings at Seven Comfort Cuisine. Yes, instead of slaving away in the kitchen, Seven Comfort Cuisine saved the day.
As a start-up food business, Seven Comfort Cuisine’s menu is still rather limited. But it they do have decent number of choices that ranges from pork, beef, chicken, seafood, pasta, vegies, and appetizers.
I was able to try three of their dishes all medium size in which one serving is perfect for 6 to 8 persons. They also have large serving portions which is good for 10 to 12 pax. We were just a group of three – hefty eaters at that, but there were plenty of leftovers because while the medium tray may look a tad small at face value, the dishes were downright filling.
First was the Veggie Red Rice (Php500) which I love because red rice isn’t really easy to deal with in terms of cooking but this one is just perfect. The slight nuance in texture and flavor of the red rice goes well with the vegetables that lends slight innate savory sweet flavor to an otherwise plain flavor of the dish. Now here is the tip, if there are some leftovers, try frying it just like your plain ol’ fried rice, you’ll be in for a delicious treat.
The Caramelized Peppered Pork (Php750) was also a good dish. But being me, I would love to have some fats on it so as to keep the meat tender and not dry. But then again, we are talking about healthy food here so it is understandable that every single slice of pork on this dish is devoid of fat. The flavor leans on the sweeter side of the spectrum but not overwhelmingly so. The slices of bell peppers helped in cutting through the sweetness.
Now my favorite among the three is definitely the Savory Chicken Mushroom Pasta (Php600) which can be liken to Yellow Cab’s Charlie Chan but has a homey flair to it. It is basically Kung Pao Chicken Pasta executed well, so it is kind of addicting. I love that they are very generous with the ingredients from chicken slices to mushroom. This dish is definitely a winner.
There are several items on Seven Comfort Cuisine’s menu which sounds interesting to me but the three which I have tried are pretty solid options. I love the convenience of not having to lose my wit that particular day in coming up with food to feed my friends because instead of the time consuming aspect of preparation and cooking, I have extra time to spend it with my friends. Also, it is always nice to try something new.
