House of Lechon [CEBU Food Trip]

They say that a visit in Cebu would not be complete without trying one of the delicacies that Cebuanos are most proud of – Lechon. So naturally, trying out one of the best lechon in all of Cebu was included in the itinerary of our Cebu Food Crawl with the Food Crew PH. Hence, on our second day, dinner time was spent at House of Lechon.

House of Lechon is famous for their lechon specific of a place called Carcar. There are a lot of popular brands of lechon in Cebu and it is said that House of Lechon is one of them.

And I never wonder why it is tagged as one of the most popular because upon trying out their roasted pork offering, I immediately figured it definitely is one of the best of all the Cebu lechon I have tried in the past.

It was dinner time when we visited, and since we are on a food crawl there were three restaurants we have visited throughout the day prior to visiting The House of Lechon. Although I am thankful for the feast we had the entire day, it was a little unfortunate that the degree of satiety I was dealing with that time made it impossible for me to accommodate more than a couple of dishes.

But I was thankful that kindly people from The House of Lechon served us a feast. I remember spotting dishes such as grilled tuna belly, baked scallops, oysters, and lechon sisig among many others. If only I could eat more, I definitely would have feasted on those dishes like a mad man.

Anyway, despite missing all the other dishes, I did not let the night pass without trying the lechon of course. We were served with two varieties; the regular one and the spicy one. The regular one was everything I had hoped it to be. Crisp skin, tender meat – an entire flavorful grub that requires no sauce because everything is good as it is. The spicy variant on the other hand, I find quite addictive.

I could have written a more elaborate blog post about House of Lechon had I tried all of the dishes. But then again, isn’t it a good reason to plan a trip again to Cebu to try out all the other dishes I have missed? Who knows, soon enough, you might find me writing again about House of Lechon sometime soon. What I am sure of is that I will be coming back again.
