My recent visit to Ramen Nagi Manila Robinsons Galleria branch I deem was timely since it is officially ramen weather now. While there are several ramen restaurants that claim to be the most authentic and best ramen in Manila I only have few favorites I always go back to and one of them is Ramen Nagi.
If the several branches that Ramen Nagi has already opened here in Manila is not a clear indication of success, then I don't know what is. It only goes to show that they are one of the most trusted in Manila restaurant scene when it comes to Japanese ramen.
Robinsons Galleria is one of the malls I usually frequent to because of its proximity to where I reside. These days it is undergoing facelift on several spots and from what I heard, there are several new restaurants opening in the area. Now they already have Ramen Nagi.
Ramen Nagi Manila in Robinsons Galleria sports a cozy open area that makes it more spacious and airy. It has an open kitchen where people may see the ramen chefs preparing ramen alongside other dishes available for diners to enjoy.
Every visit at any Ramen Nagi branches wouldn't be complete for me without having my favorite appetizer, the Aurora Shrimp (Php370.00). This winning dish - a favorite among those people I know who has the same love for Ramen Nagi, is basically a serving of deep fried battered shrimp served with crisp noodle strands and the special Aurora sauce. It is such a waste to miss this dish whenever you are at Ramen Nagi.
During this particular visit, Ramen Nagi's limited edition ramen was the Veggie King (Php430) I heard mix review about it so I figured I should try it myself. The name might suggest it is some kind of a vegetarian ramen, but not really. It still comes with meat that we meat-lovers all love in our ramen.
Essentially, Veggie King is ramen in pork tonkotsu broth infused with creamy carrot and onion flavor. As I mentioned, it still comes with meat as it is topped with pork chasu alongside shredded cabbage, carrot, and parsley. It was a good ramen and I don't mind having it again. Apparently, it is for limited time only.
Of course, to this day, I still cannot say no to Ramen Nagi's Original King Butao Ramen (Php390). I still love its depth of flavor that gives away the hard work and long time that goes in making its tonkotsu broth. To be specific, I was informed that it's 20 hours. Yes, those pork head, feet, and bones are simmered for 20 hours that yields a flavorful broth meant to be enjoyed and celebrated.
I am a big eater but since serving portion at Ramen Nagi is not a joke, I usually end up consuming few varieties. It is a good thing that they already have a branch at Robinsons Galleria as it means I can visit them more frequently.
