Eat-all-you-can Korean BBQ Restaurant Buffets in Manila are plenty but Korean food-loving Filipinos still can't get enough of it. Hence, the opening of Gen Korean BBQ House Manila located at the Seaside SM by the Bay is a welcome addition to the endless list of the best Korean restaurants we love. Who doesn't like feasting on unlimited Korean BBQ anyway?
Gen Korean BBQ House hails from California. It is so famous in the area that there is always long line of diners waiting for their turn to enjoy premium eat-all-you-can meats and seafood. Gen Korean BBQ House Manila is their first branch outside the US.

It was the Excello Restaurant Management Group composed of Raymund Magdaluyo, Leina Bolinas, and Marvin Agustin who brought Gen Korean BBQ House here in Manila, so all thanks to them we can get to experience the wonder that is Gen Korean.
Gen Korean BBQ House has a seating capacity of 500. Compared to the usual
Koren Buffet Restaurants here in Manila, Gen Korean sports a modern
design that adds to the unique dining experience of its guests. Because of its vast seating capacity, it is perfect for family and friends' gatherings, events, and other special occasions.
From Monday to Friday with the exception of holidays, Gen Korean BBQ House Manila Unlimited Korean BBQ rate for lunch is Php798+ per person. That's from the opening up until 4pm. Dinner rate is at Php1,288+ per person and that is from 4pm to closing. Rate for all-day weekends and holidays is also Php1,288 per person. Drinks are not included on this rate.
Recently, Gen Korean announced that they are currently having a Gen Primetime promo wherein guests may enjoy an eat and drink-all-you-can from 2pm to 6pm during weekdays for only Php898+. I am not sure how long this promo will run so it is always safe to check out their Facebook page for announcement.
Just like most buffets here in Manila, there is a difference in terms of food choices between lunch and dinner service at Gen Korean. That explains the difference in pricing.
It was lunch service during the time that I get to visit Gen Korean and let me tell you that the rate of Php798 per person was so worth it. There are 25 food selections on the lunch menu - and yes, you can have an unlimited servings of it. All you have to do ask the kindly food attendants and they will deliver it to your table. They can even cook everything for you on your table if preferred.

True to the Korean tradition, every dining experience at Gen Korean BBQ Manila is accompanied by set of Korean appetizers also known as Koren Banchan. Everything is refillable including my favorite sangchu geotjeori or Korean lettuce salad.
Aside from variety of meat and seafood dishes meant for an ultimate barbecue feast, there are also a handful of famous ready-made Korean dishes on the menu such as the ones we tried, the Jap Chae, Sweet and Spicy Rice Cake (Tteok-bokki), and Chicken Popcorn among many others on the menu.
All the 25 items on Gen Korean BBQ lunch menu are guaranteed to be of good quality and downright satisfying. Yet we were told that some of the bbq items that one should not miss when dining at Gen Korean are the Gen Premium Steak, Premium Chadol, and Red Wine Samgyupsal. I can understand why these bbq goodies came as highly recommended because these were so good I have lost count how many times we asked for our share to be refilled.
The Premium Chadol (Thinly sliced premium Angus brisket) in particular, I find very addictive. From its stunning presentation up to the moment it's already charred on the grill, I cannot find any reason not to love this dish. Same goes for the Premium Steak with its impeccable tenderness and the Red Wine Samgyupsal with its distinct taste.
Now my personal favorite are the Daechang (large ox intestine marinated in sweet teriyaki sauce) and Gobchang (small ox intestine marinated in sweet teriyaki sauce. I rarely find Korean restaurants here in Manila that serves these two and I'm glad that they actually have it at Gen Korean.
I swear, these were so good that my friend Glenn and I downed several servings of it. It was perfect eaten as ssam (wrapped in lettuce leaves), or with rice. But it is even more perfect as an accompaniment to Soju.
Aside from the highly recommended and my personal favorites, there are several other bbq selections which anyone can enjoy at Gen Korean.
The Nook Gan Sal (marinated beef short ribs) was also good. The flavor hits the fine balance between sweet and savory while the tenderness was impeccable. The Hangjungsal (signature pork cheek) was perfect when grilled with kimchi thrown in the mix. That's the thing about these amazing grilled food at Gen Korean, you can mix and match the meat, seafood, and side dishes to come up with dishes that suite to your liking.
The crowd favorite and Korean classic Beef Bulgogi should not be missed as well. Same goes for the surprisingly impressive Honey Chicken and Garlic Chicken. Both ended as a crowd's favorite among our group.
There are also few seafood from the lunch menu. Although I would have love to see more seafood options and varieties, the choices available were pretty solid just like the Shrimp and my personal favorite, the Steak Calamari.
As mentioned, aside from the Gen Primetime promo rate of Php898+, drinks are not included on the given rate. You can however add a minimal fee on top of the rate in order for you to avail of the unlimited drinks. Soju and other alcoholic beverages are available too.
I cannot count how much have I mentioned here in the blog how much I love Korean food. Although Gen Korean focuses mainly on Korean BBQ selections, I still find it satisfyingly good that I cannot wait to go back and enjoy it again with my family.
