What do you eat when you’re too lazy? This is the question I would often get from friends who at least once in their lives witnessed me cooked laboriously and often times ceremoniously. In parallel universe, I could probably tell them with much bravado that I am way too passionate of a cook to be lazy. I could also cough a pontifical declaration that every meal I have is labor of love reeking of enthusiasm to create culinary masterpiece.
But we are in this universe and none of those pompous declaration is true. Because the truth is, despite my desire to learn more about the ways in the kitchen, I get lazy at times. On a not so good day, my laziness gets the better off me I could eat tuna straight out of a can – totally not my brightest hour.
So, what do I eat during lazy days? Sandwich. I love sandwich so much I have handful of sandwich recipe ideas in my arsenal that I use depending on how committed I am to make a sandwich on a given day. And this recipe that I am sharing right now is one of those I would often make when I’m too lazy to operate a stove, a toaster, or even sandwich maker.
Peanut Butter Chocolate and Apple Sandwich. You too can make this sandwich on your lazy days.
This is not a sponsored post so indulge me if I tell you that in this recipe, you can use your favorite brand or any other decent peanut butter chocolate spread you can get your hands on. Is there any other reputable brand of peanut butter chocolate spread here in Manila? I am not even sure. So, I am using the only brand I know, the one I often have in my pantry – Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Spread.
You only need few ingredients for this recipe. Bread, peanut butter chocolate spread, apple, and cinnamon. You can even ditch cinnamon if it’s tucked away in your spice cabinet and you’re too lazy to reach for it. You could still end up with a good sandwich despite that.
I may have mentioned in my earlier blog posts how I enjoy eating multigrain bread recently so that’s what I am using here. But feel free to use whatever you have available. I suggest however, to go for soft variety of bread because apple got your back in the texture department. I used pan de sal once and all is still right in the world. So, it’s your call.
Now about the apple. You might think that it’ll be weird to include it in a sandwich because of its hard texture. Dude you gotta slice them apple thinly. Quarter of an inch is perfect for me but you can go way thinner than that. Go paper-thin if you’re extra lazy to chew. Better yet, substitute with banana if you're too whiny about the apple. It can go well with the peanut butter chocolate spread too. But I’m staying with my apple.
Instruction is pretty straightforward. Take a slice of bread. Spread a spoonful of peanut butter chocolate spread. Put thin slices of apple. Sprinkle with cinnamon powder. Cover with another slice of bread with peanut butter chocolate spread. Enjoy.
Fast and easy. Peanut buter chocolate spread may not be the healthiest option but you’ll lessen your guilt with the inclusion of healthy apple. Also, cinnamon has good anti-inflammatory property among any other healthy benefits so, let’s not ditch that.
